Photo Gallery 1: In the Beginning
This photo album contains some of the first pictures we have of Jake. If fact the first picture is actually a picture of a picture, and was given to us by Dr Hunt, one of the Paediatric Consultants, when he came to give us our first every update on how Jake was getting on.
As you can imagine, with Jake being born so small, the medical staff did not expect him to survive and we were advised at this point to take things minute by minute, therefore I let Vicki keep the original photo, and I took a copy for me to take home.
The following photo's are from the 23rd of January to the 6th of February 2006: Jakes first two weeks in SCBU
You may ask yourself what / why the last two pictures: Well Jake had been having a real rough time of it, in his first few days of life, there were many times when we were told this was it, and things were not looking good. On returning home alone without Vicki (as she was still on the ward recovering form surgery) I sat down, totally drained, trying not to go over everything that had happened that day, I opening a packet of Tesco ready salted crisps, only to discover this very large "J" shaped crisp, I totally could not believe it.
This crisp was the first crisp out of the bag, and I took it as a sign that everything was going to be ok. The crisp had a slight bend in it, not really noticeable in the picture, but it meant that it did not totally sit flat, and because of this the crisp was broken shortly after we moved house, around two years after Jake was born.
